Two-Year Community/Junior Colleges

Community/Junior Colleges Are...

Community colleges, also known as 2-year or junior colleges, are regionally accredited post-secondary institutions at which students may earn an Associate's of Arts (AA) or an Associate's of Science (AS). This is the highest degree offered at these institutions. Bachelor's of Arts (BA) or Bachelor's of Science (BS) can be earned at four-year institutions.

  • Community based institutions that establish links and partnerships with high schools and the community
  • Deliver high quality programs at times and places for the convenience of the student
  • Have admission policies that are open to those with high school diplomas or its equivalent
  • Have tution and fees that are approximately half of those at a four-year institution
  • Save students the cost of living on campus

  • Occupational-technical programs that prepare students for employment
  • Programs that assist students with upgrading of skills they already use

Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC)

PPCC has close to 50 years of excellence in education, having awarded over 33,600 degrees and certificates since 1968. Pikes Peak Community College opened as El Paso Community College in 1968. PPCC is a two-year college offering Associate's degrees and various certifications in Career and Technical fields. With more than 150 programs of study, PPCC has a proud tradition of helping people get a fresh start - a start toward completion of a degree, a start towards a better job, a start towards a better and more enriching life. Small classes taught by professors offer an unparalleled experience for undergraduate students.

CSEC shares a campus with CTU and partners with CSEC to offer CTU college courses to CSEC students as part of  CSEC's normal school day.

          

  CSEC is authorized by Charter School Institute, a state-wide organization that acts somewhat like a school district.

            

Colorado League of Charter Schools supports CSEC with training and other services.
